Open Coconut

Rafflesia Arnoldii
Rafflesia Arnoldii, a parasitic plant that has grapevine like roots and a fleshy flower which is the only part of the plant that appears above the ground.
This is the largest flower in the world and according and recorded at Guiness book of records, measured three feet in diameter, 3/4 inch thick and around fifteen pounds weight.
This flower can be found in south east asia, at Sumatra, Borneo, Malay Peninsula and Philipines.
The flowers look and smell like rotting flesh, hence its local names which translate to "corpse flower" or "meat flower".
After years of research, Bogor Botanical garden scientist succeed plant this flower at Bogor botanical garden.

17 August - Panjat Pinang
17 August 1945, Indonesia independence day.
Now to celebrate it, many traditional games played at the day.
such as one below "Panjat Pinang".
The game played with team, 1 team usually has 5 peoples or more, and each people oiled with kind of oil (Kerosene) or others type.
Then they have to manage climbing one nut tree and at the top of the tree, there're a lot of gifts..
They have to climb until the top and drop down the gift from above.

The Great Mosque, Medan
This Great mosque is the most beautiful and biggest mosque in North Sumatra, located only 200m from Maimoon Palace.
This mosque was built in 1906, and now a lot of foreign tourist came to visit this mosque.
Until now this mosque was still used by Muslim community to pray every day.

Tjong A Fie House
Tjong A Fie House, located at Ahmad Yani Road, Kesawan, Medan (North Sumatra), was built at around 1900, nowadays already became Tjong A Fie Memorial Institute also known ad Tjong A Fie Mansion.
This house opened for public at 18 June 2009 to commemorate Tjong A Fie 150th birthday.
Built with combination of China, Europe and Malaccan design/architecture, this house fill with historical items from Tjong A Fie.
Tjong A Fie known as a famous business man, he was contributing in development of Deli Tua now is Medan.
He has 3 principle: Honest, Loyalty and united, during his business he applied his principle, even with his workers.
He also share 5% of profit to all his workers.
During his lifetime, he contributed a lot of things especially to Medan.
